Lucille, Doris and Ida are three widows who meet once a month for tea before visiting their husbands graves. At the cemetery they meet Sam, a butcher, who is also visiting his wife’s grave. A budding romance between Sam and Ida develops but is squashed by the other two.

109th Commemorative Farewell Concert / May 14
Tickets are $10.00. Just ahead of their farewell banquet in 1916, the men of the 109th
Battalion joined their friends and neighbours in what was then called the
Academy of Music for a farewell concert organized by the 109th Battalion
Band and which included a series of captivating musical numbers performed
by the band, guest musicians, and soloists.
On Saturday the 14th of May at 7:30 PM, citizens and visitors alike will
have the opportunity to experience an evening filled with drama and song
on stage at the Academy Theatre for Performing Arts. Drama students from
I.E. Weldon Secondary School will tell the true stories of soldiers and
nursing sisters from across the community, while the Kawartha Male Chorus,
the Meringer Big Band, and other guest artists, including soloist Sophia
Mackey, will perform a number of pieces which capture the mood felt across
the Kawarthas and indeed Canada during the First World War era.
Proceeds from the Farewell Concert will go towards the Academy Theatre

Tickets are $39.00. “Take It Easy: The Story of The Eagles” celebrates the incredible music of legendary 1970s Country-Rock group “The Eagles”. This audience-interactive show is comprised of some of Canada’s leading session musicians, who perform all of the legendary hits from the Eagles extensive career with soaring vocal harmonies and sizzling hot guitar solos. The evening will be comprised of two sets, with the first half featuring all the songs from the multi-million selling album “Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1975.” The second half features more classic hits from the band's later years, including solo hits made famous by Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh.
